Characteristics of Marble Putty

Thanks to its mechanical strength and quick setting, marble mastic bonds, fills, and reconstructs missing parts of marble, granite, and ceramic, perfectly meeting the needs of how to glue marble and how to fill travertine marble.

Uses of Marble Putty:

• Gluing marble: Joining two broken pieces of marble or fixing decorative elements on marble surfaces.
• Marble filler: Filling cracks, joints, and imperfections in marble to achieve a smooth and uniform surface.
• Repairing marble: Restoring missing or damaged parts of statues, sculptures, cladding, and marble flooring.
• Restoring marble: Creating new decorative elements or completing missing parts of marble objects.

Types of Marble Putty

Marble putty is available in various densities and can be classified into:

• Liquid marble mastic: Useful for repairing marble (joining two broken parts), filling micro cracks or fissures, coupling, or inserting reinforcements.
• Two-component marble mastic: In its semi-solid version, it is appreciated for being easy to spread with a spatula and is used as putty for travertine marble or as grout for filling the joints of marble floors or cladding.
• Solid marble putty (vertical): Ideal for reconstructing missing parts of stone, marble, alabaster, and onyx, as well as filling holes or gluing vertically since it does not drip.

Next-Generation Marble Mastic

Chemical research has led to the development of new vinyl ester resins, epoxy acrylate resins, hybrid resins, and epoxy resins, enabling the creation of a new generation of marble adhesives and resins for bonding granite, quartz, and porcelain stoneware. These products offer greater resistance and mechanical strength and are suitable for bonding different materials both indoors and outdoors. The new transparent epoxy resin, as clear as water and non-yellowing, is useful for gluing or filling materials such as white marble, Thassos marble, travertine, and quartz, or for making resin-cast tables.

The putty is available in the following colors: white, straw, black, red, and transparent. Any color can be achieved with powder pigments (oxides) or with concentrated coloring paste added to the marble mastic in the right dosage, until reaching the desired shade of the marble to be glued or filled. Once hardened, the mastic will not lose its color, making the marble repair work invisible.

Historical Background

The first marble mastic, also known as two-component marble glue based on polyester resins, was created in Italy in 1954. The mastic immediately exhibited remarkable characteristics: when mixed with the hardener (paste catalyst), it solidifies and becomes very strong, forming a single body with the marble that can be sanded, polished, brushed, and worked like marble.
